La Mer and Dewey House Oceanfront Suite

I stayed at La Mer for six nights for a romantic last minute getaway with my husband. The property is truly immaculate, very quiet, and furnished like a swanky four star resort. Small touches run the gamut throughout. We especially liked the nightly turndown service, the sweet smelling fresh towels twice daily, the hot complementary breakfast and bottled water, the abundant free parking and easy access to the Southernmost pools made a real bargain for a little less than two hundred dollars per night. If you happen prefer relaxation and a slightly more relaxed holiday, this is the perfect place for you. That is assuming you don't need to be within falling down distance of Sloppy Joe's and the rest of the shops. We found that the majority of the fine dining restaurants tend to be closer to this end of Duval. The innkeepers, both Randall and John were genuinely warm without being smarmy. The warm and inviting ocean was great for swimming, and the view was a true experience. The gorgeous huge pools are clean and relatively quiet when we were there. The magnificent butterfly conservatory is just a few steps away. Simply irresistible.....

I wanted to stay at the La Mer and Dewey House the moment I saw the pictures on the internet. My original dates were booked so my girlfriend and I changed some things around so that we could stay their. To start things off first the inn keeper John was top notch! He greeted us by name throughout the day and had many a conversation like we were friends. Breakfast was hot and complimentary, every morning included Belgian waffles, lots of fruit, coffee, pastries, juice, an assortment of cereal and more. would you believe that it did not stop there, the appetizers during the afternoon and evening hours separated other places from this place, it is classy all the way. The decor in our room as well as the common areas were warm and inviting. The rooms were beautiful with patios, separate glass shower, a whirlpool bath, the most comfortable king bed in the world and the rooms was quite large. We will return to the Dewey House or perhaps this time we will try the La Mer. This was a great romantic Key West getaway. The Dewey House is FANTASTIC!
