Merlin Guesthouse Key West Reviews

The Merlin Inn was fantastic. We Couldn't have asked for a better hotel to stay in for our wedding and honeymoon. From the start they were very accommodating. We had a large group of 26 people and took most of the rooms for a week. Speak directly with the front desk staff for such a large party was essential. I couldn't book this on an on-line booking engine. I went down the list on See A Room and just called every hotel I could find with a pool. This site gives you the direct number which is nice for booking regular reservations anyway. Jumping through hoops to book on-line always makes me nervous I might have made a mistake and will get charged more or get the wrong room, which has happened in the past. No worries for this trip. I took so much of their time on the phone to put all of this together and changed rooms around a bunch of times. They helped with every step of the way. The pool was refreshing and everyone thanked me for sticking to finding a hotel with a pool. The patio area around the pool offers a nice tropical setting with shaded and sunning areas. Now for the very best part. We booked a King Suite which was large and romantic. This was during off season so the rates where much less than just a month later. There is no parking lot for the Merlin, and I found this is not abnormal for Key West. After the smoke cleared and everyone had a chance to sit and chat, we all had found parking close by and in the end we just left the cars where they were because walking to everything worth seeing is easy from where you are. The best beach on the island is south beach and it's a bout a five minute walk away. If we return to Key West, we'll be calling the Merlin Inn.

My wife and I stayed at the Merlin Guesthouse Key West for a few nights last week and I wanted to send in a review for your site. They had a great atmosphere and the staff was very nice. Tropical gardens with flowers, a hammock that was perfect for relaxing in paradise, and even a little pond. We enjoyed the continental breakfast each morning with croissants, fruits, danishes, etc. We spent quit a lot of time in the hammock and in the rocking chairs on the front porch of the main building. The location and price are the top features of the Merlin. You're just a couple of minutes from the main drag of Duval and walking down to Mallory square for the sunset celebration only took about ten minutes. A lot of people complain about the fact that parking is difficult in Key West. It is, but I can take my complaint one step further. I have a very expensive car ad didn't want someone crashing into it and driving away. I told the girl at the the front desk about my concern when I was making the reservation and she said "just park in the parking Garage, and put it up on the top level so you won't have to worry." What great advise. I did just that and didn't have to be worried about the car while I was there. Finding a spot there was more than easy, so if you don't want to deal with finding a spot, just put it in the parking garage. Great Hotel Deal in Key West. Highly recommended.

We spent seven nights in early October at the Merlin Key West. We booked our own cottage in the back of the property. When I made the reservation, the girl I spoke with warned me that the cottage was small. When I got there I was honestly expecting it to be very small, and was pleasantly surprised to find it was fine in size. We had a sitting room separate from the bedroom, a full kitchen, and the bathroom was actually large. The floor plan was different with the bathroom off of the kitchen, but we were vary happy with the quality and cleanliness for the rates we paid. We were certainly expecting less for the price and warning of small size. The pool was lovely and an amenity not found in other accommodation I found for much more money. They provided plenty of lounge chairs around the pool and the tropical trees provided shade if we desired it. There was also plenty of areas to lay out and get some sun as well. The free breakfast was the usual muffins, bagels, croissants, juices and coffee. All fresh and on time. The staff was friendly and said they hoped we had a wonderful stay and asked us to return as thought they meant it. We enjoyed our stay and will surely be heading back soon.

My husband and I stayed here late last summer. It was located close to everything. Our room with the 4 poster queen bed was clean and decorated nicely. It had hard wood floors and was not at all like most hotels. Everything was just like the picture on the website.
