Old Customs House Inn Key West Reviews

I work in the hospitality industry and know a good hotel when I see it. I'm very picky when it comes to the cleanliness and the friendliness of the staff. I read several reviews both good and bad and couldn't pass up the Old Customs House in Key West quite simply for the outstanding location and the downright cheap price to be right in the heart of Old Town as the name suggests. When you look into hotels on Duval street or anywhere in the vicinity of Mallory Square, be prepared to take a big hit each night financially. Anything that is right in the heart of any tourist destination is expensive and this little island is a treasure and you pay for what it is. With this in mind, I was really happy with the low rates and the outstanding location of the Old Customs House. Upon arrival I found myself at the entrance where the smallest bar in Key West is also located. There was a number to call and I sat down to order a drink. When in Rome! After a little while a nice guy named Josh shows up and welcomes my wife and I to paradise. Check in is very relaxed and personal to say the least. Josh showed us to our room and we had his number if we needed anything. Right off the bat, we knew things were a little bit simpler down here. After thoroughly inspecting our room and bed we made our way out to the party that is Duval street. I'm very please at this point because I know what everyone else staying in the other hotels right next door are paying. Our room was nice, clean, and the bed was comfortable. We wasted no time in getting ourselves into a few cocktails at Hogs Breath and Sloppy Joe's bar. In my opinion after hitting every bar in Key West, the two best are right at your doorstep. We went out for a snorkel ride and enjoyed a couple of spectacular sunset dinners. Again, all within a stones throw from the Old Customs House. I have been down to Key West several times over the years and I've stayed from one side of the island to the other. For the prices they charge and the location it absolutely can not be beat. Albeit we're not talking about the Ritz here, it is a simple place. The important thing is that it's a clean room which has obviously been renovated recently and as picky as I am, I couldn't ask for more.
