The Mermaid and the Alligator Key West Reviews
We have stayed at the Mermaid & Alligator more times than I can remember! We
couldn't imagine staying anywhere else. We will continue to return every year at
least once a year for the foreseeable future. It isn't all that far for us to
travel from Boca Raton, Florida. We need our mini vacations together. A while
back we decided we were going to buy a vacation home in Key West. We booked a
room at the Mermaid and the Alligator. After spending a week searching for the
perfect home and cost we found that the guesthouse we were staying in had
everything we would ever want and more in a vacation home. So we decided to come
down as often as we would have if we had purchased something. Long story short,
you cant get a better vacation accommodation than this miraculous Inn! The
innkeepers have become much more than hosts to us, they are friends. They such
wonderful people and run a top rate, gorgeous establishment.
This accommodation is undoubtedly the best B&B I have ever had the privilege to
stay in. The Mermaid and the Alligator is a delight in every aspect of the word.
The owners make you feel at home and immediately and go far out of their way to
make sure you have as much of an enjoyable stay as possible. I honestly just can
not think of a single complaint about my entire stay at The Mermaid & The
Alligator. Oh, I changed my mind, I had to leave!
My husband and I have been married for twenty three years. It is around this
point that you might find yourself dreading wrapping Christmas gifts. I have the
solution. Take a trip instead. The kids are all gone, the tree is a hassle, and
the two of you buy whatever you want at any given time anyway. So this year we
put my theory to the test and gifted each other a 5 night stay at The Mermaid
and The Alligator. We had a ball discovering it on the Internet. Taking the time
to do all of the research together was a present all in itself. It was so much
fun talking about what was important to each of us on the trip and getting to
know one another all over again. Trusting the internet photos was a little scary
but we went on a reputable site, and had at it. We believe that if you are on
the first page for any given key word you are bound to be a reliable source. We
flew into Miami and rented a car for the lovely sunny drive to
Key West, we were
pretty tired, but excited, and hoped that we had made the right choice in B & B.
Dean, is one of the nicest owners, had called us on the road as we drove, to
confirm that we had not gotten lost and were on our way. He spent the time to
explain how to check ourselves in at 10pm. When we arrived at the mansion no
words can describe the relief we felt as we entered threw the back door. We
walked into paradise on earth! The entire property oozed with tropical
stupendous grandeur, it was an oasis! Dean, as we later learned, was one of the
acclaimed horticulturist on the island, and and saw no reason why his property
should not be a tropical garden! The other owner, Paul, was every bit as
wonderful as Dean, had definitely done a great amount of research on exactly how
to make their guests feel so comfortable. Think of an amenity you would want at
our fingertips, and they had it! The complimentary wine each afternoon was not
only a shocker, but more special than anything else we thought we might want The
delicious frittatas and homemade quiches were outstanding! Even humdrum
muffins, fruit, and beverages were a special event served each morning outside
in the delectable garden. We also thought that meeting and getting to know the
other guests was going to be a bore and a nuscence. Boy were we wrong! It was a
delightful experience to hear such happy accolades regarding the quests. Gather
together about the same time each morning was not a requirement, but evidently
just wanted to be catered to by the staff! The tri-level bed and breakfast was
converted into the most amazing and relaxing lovely homes. The owners even had
wonderfully soothing and relaxing music playing throughout the home at all
times, accept for the night. We found candles burning for a sweet scent and
romantic lighting, free internet access, all kinds of reading material available
for the borrowing, even beach towels, mats, and back packs use for a
day at one of the Key West beaches! One of our most very favorite staff members
at the B&B was Dana, who took care of all our excursion needs! She quickly set
us on the right path any tourist would want to see, where to eat, and what to
do. After many fantastic miles of walking every day, it was spectacular to crawl
into the heated hot tub or the small pool to work out those aching joints! The
Guests were as interesting s the island itself, they ranged from newly-weds to a
host of retirees. We have never had such a great vacation. Not only are we going
to gift each other the gift that beats all gifts but we are going to always give
the same thing! Can you guess what it could possibly be? The Mermaid and the
Alligator gave us something we were lacking for many years. The experience was
reminiscent of our honeymoon so many years ago, except we have a lot more money
and experiences to talk about now. We will however fly straight to Key
West rather than rent a car for such a long trip. That way we will get even more
time to devote to our favorite Christmas gift!
My husband and I just got home from our twelve night stay at the Mermaid & The Alligator. The experience was one for the record books! We cannot tell you enough about the immaculate treatment we received from the owners, the Innkeepers, and from the delightful Maggie, the concierge. These outstanding people that work there took us into their beautiful home and treated us like honored guests instead of paying customers. We have stayed in Bed & Breakfasts all over the place, and had some apprehensions when we chose a more expensive one, but it was clear the minute we checked in and they took us to our intensely beautiful room that this place was worth every penny and many dollars more! The decor and ambiance found throughout the property is wonderful, and the full hot breakfasts served in the magnificent lush tropical garden setting are delicious! We would not only recommend this inn to everyone looking for the most relaxed, pampered tropical experience in Paradise but we will come back again next year!
We recently to Key West and stayed at the
Mermaid and Alligator that sits prettily on Truman St. The Inn is as true a
piece of heaven you could ever find on earth. We stayed at the Inn in March and
had a marvelous time there. Our deluxe bedroom was like a tree house. The room
was fun, light and breezy with lovely views of the majestic gardens at the back
of the property. We loved the Catholic Church located across the street. The
Mermaid and the Alligator was quiet, the room was serine and hospitable, and the
breakfast we got there was wonderful, a beautiful and nutritious way to start
each day. I cannot explain enough about just how terrific our time at the
Mermaid was, check out their website, it really does do justice, the Inn is just
as pretty as the pictures show.
Amazing, Heaven, calm, peaceful, impeccably clean, tranquil, very romantic!!!
