Key Lime Inn Key West
ReviewsMy wife and I stayed at the Key Lime Inn during the end of May. Our room was very private and perfect for us. The rooms here are lovely, with a tropical decor, and average hotel room size. They're not five star quality, but they're charming and most importantly clean. The furnishings are nice quality, just simple and that's reflected in the rates. When you're on vacation, especially in Key West you aren't in the room much anyway. We were looking for the best rates, location, and overall quality in both. The Key Lime Inn delivers. It's just a couple of blocks off of the famous Duval Street and is an easy walk to the best beach on the island. It's also right around the corner from a scooter rental place. Bikes are a good way of getting around but we know we saw a lot more by renting the scooters. We were a bit concerned about noise due to the fact that they are known for being right in the heart of old town, but it was really quiet there. The whole staff was nice and courteous. On our first day we arrived at about 10 am. They let us to park in the lot which has plenty of free parking for the number of rooms. This is very unusual in Key West. Most smaller and affordable places don't offer parking because they don't have a parking lot on the property. Check-in was 3pm, so we left our bags in the car and picked up our scooters. Unfortunately I got sick a couple of hours later after eating and drinking too much at a bar. We went back to the Key Lime Inn although it was only noon time. My wife explained that I wasn't feeling so good and the staff called in the head of housecleaning staff and had our room cleaned immediately so we could check-in early. I offered to pay more to get in and they refused. We were check-in and taken care of in about twenty minutes. The front desk girls offered me tea and snacks and were concerned about me. They treated us with such compassion. I've never had such great service, and they charged nothing for the extra hospitality of allowing an early check-in. The grounds were tropical with blooming flowers and shaded sitting areas around the pool. We soaked up the sun and enjoyed many cooling dips in the pool which for Key West was big. The service is exceptional, the rates are low for the quality you get, and the location is perfect. The Key Lime was perfect!
We looked for while to find a place to stay in Key West for 7 nights. We wanted a hotel we could relax in, with a quiet setting, yet convenient to all that Key West has to offer. We were afraid this was too tall of an order. The Key Lime Inn looked like it fit the bill and it turned out to be exactly what we had wanted. We got a queen room that was extremely clean and nicely decorated. It also included a small refrigerator which kept drinks cold for us and or mini bar we brought with us. The a/c worked great and more importantly quietly. The new lcd tv on the wall had a better picture than my old tv at home and more channels. The pool area was well appointed with plenty of chairs and tables. We spent quite a bit of time just being lazy and relaxing next to the pool. An above average continental breakfast is set up by the pool each morning with fresh food. We've stayed in to many places that put out stale breads and muffins you just know are from yesterday or worse. Breakfast doesn't come out until 8:30, but in this town most people aren't moving much by that time anyway. We stayed out too late to make breakfast a couple of mornings. The location is just a few minutes walk from the quiet end of Duval and walking down to the end with all the action takes about ten minutes if you're on a mission. We did the Duval crawl most days, so it didn't seem like any distance at all. In respect to anytown USA it really isn't. If you walk down to Mallory Square for example, that will take about 15 minutes if you walk straight there. We were already down there at that time (sunset) anyway. The hotel has a parking lot which most place do not have or charge you for if they do. It's first come first serve, but there are plenty of spaces. Most cars don't move for the time they stay. Ours didn't. With such a convenient location you just don't need to drive, nor do you want to. It would be a hassle to drive anywhere when you can easily walk to everything. The overall value of the Key Lime Inn was unbeatable in the end.
