Over the years I have vacationed with my husband of thirty four years in Key West at least a dozen times. We usually stay at the same center of town accommodations that have suited us just fine. This year we took a chance on the Gardens Key West Bed and Breakfast. The pictures were lovely on the internet and the price was right in line with our budget. At first we were a little concerned that it was a couple of blocks farther from Duval than we usually stay but after our first night in that comfortable bed we were shocked at how much better we slept than we have in the past. The quietness and serenity of this accommodation is amazing. We were close enough to walk to the most delightful restaurants, shops, and art galleries, but once back at our room we felt reminiscent of a by gone era in which the island of Key West wasn’t quite as known or sought after; Even the people watching on the terrace was more interesting because we got to sneak a peek at the locals in their natural state of tropical bliss. The Gardens Key West met every expectation for hospitality, serenity, luxury, and comfort we have come to require in our old age. Marvelous place to stay, we recommend the Gardens Key West highly and plan to travel here again next April. Key West Florida is beautiful and while not the cheapest place to vacation, one of the very best.

I am a firm believer in fate, and as fate would have it the hotel we booked upon our arrival to Key West had double booked our room. This hotel is very similar to the Island City House Hotel which is a little bit cheaper if you can find availability. Evidently this happens on the island often. I would call ahead to confirm your reservation prior to departing from home, where your computer will help in procuring a new room. Anyhow, fate, as fate would have it we were directed to the Gardens Key West hotel with apologies for the inconvenience. We were perturbed to say the least during the short walk to the Gardens but stopping in front of the old gal our hardened shell started to soften. Once greeted by one of the nicest and most accommodating young ladies we had ever met our irritation was nearly gone. The grounds, room, pool, breakfast, and all of the other spectacular amenities created the recipe for a fantastic vacation to Key West. Yes, fate smiled greatly upon us last week and we will show our appreciation to her by staying at the Gardens Hotel in Key West every time we visit our little island.
