The Southernmost on the Beach is a great place to just get
away from it all. Key west is a small place and they are on the tip, where it's
quiet and like they carved out a little piece of the island. If you want to get
into some partying and action just walk down Duval. The further you go the more
nuts it gets. Camille’s and Abodanzas are two great restaurants within the
immediate vicinity. This side is slower but the shopping is much better and
there are great privately owned art galleries all around. We will surely stay at
the Southernmost when we return to Key West, which we hope is sooner than later.
When we do, we'll try and get one of the rooms on the second floor towards the
southern end of the building. They have a better ocean view, however not of the
beach. We'd definitely be happy no matter where we were staying in this hotel.
Everyone keeps writing about how the Southernmost on The Beach is on the quiet end and how easy it is to walk everywhere. Well the easiest way to get around Key West is to rent bikes or scooters. Bikes and scooters are available for rental right on the hotel property. Also there's plenty of cabs that charge fir rates to take you anywhere on the island. Key West is small so a high cab bill is a hard thing to accomplish. Old town has everything worth visiting while on vacation and the hotel is on the southernmost end of it.
I came back here to write about our recent stay at The Southernmost on the Beach Hotel in Key West. We had stayed there before and found your site looking for some videos. This time our stay was even better than the last. The staff is welcoming and attentive from the moment you walk in the door. We had an ocean view room on our last vacation. This time we reserved a ground level king room. The difference in quality was null and the view was better from the second floor but we decided to save some money staying on the first floor. I've told a few friends about our trip, and that the king bed in our hotel room was more comfortable than my bed at home.
We just returned home from this vacation and we're already planning our next trip back to stay here. My husband and I have fallen in love with Key West. This time we went down for New Years on the recommendation of a friend and will probably go again at that time next time. The conch drops on top of Sloppy Joes bar. It's a fun time to visit. This hotel is ideal as long as you're prepared to walk to the crowded area of downtown. We liked being away from the crowd and thought a little stroll helps burn calories from drinking and food you find yourself overindulging on. The way I see it, even if you stay at the other end, you'll likely walk down to the other end to get away from the crowds. This was one of our many trips down to old Key West and we look forward to staying at the southernmost. With the beach, hospitality, and quality of the rooms for the price, they have my business forever.
We just returned home from a delightful
week long vacation in Key West. We chose the
Southernmost on the Beach
in Key West after a
friend told us it was the best hotel
in Key West. He was right, and I wanted to share my experience with others.
First, the hotel has been updated wonderfully. Every room is new and expertly
maintained by the cleaning staff. We made a good mess of our room and they did a
job of making it new again. I read previously that they used some kind of
fragrance in the rooms when they clean them and it smells so good when you open
the door. It hits you and it's a pleasant, clean scent. It's not just a can of
Lysol sprayed into the air. I think they put it in the a/c somehow because when
we turned up the fan on the a/c it filled the room again with this bouquet of
flowers scent. Next best part has to be the beds. They're of coarse new firm
beds that made us look forward to going back to the room to rest. We spent
little time sleeping, but slept so well we were refreshed every morning. Only
problem was my husband wanted a new bed when we got home. Next, the location is
at the southernmost end of Key West. This is the slower paced and quieter end of
Duval St. Surrounding the property is houses quaint souvenir shops and unique
art galleries with works from local artists and famous painters alike. If you
desire a skyscraper ultra modern corporate accommodation, then this is not the
hotel for you. But if you like a laid back atmosphere and a hotel with a
dedicated staff who is attentive to your needs, unlike most any hotel in the
world, I would definitely recommend the Southernmost. I must say that I don't
understand one of the previous reviews that said it makes a big difference on
where you stay in the hotel in reference to one end or the other. This hotel
basically faces the beach and the goes out over the water. If you stay in the
end closes to the beach, you'll see more beach. If you stay on the other side
you'll still see the beach and the ocean will be right in front of you. I think
the view from any room would be great. The second floor rooms can see further,
so I can understand an argument for staying up there. The grounds are filled
with lovely plants in a plantation style setting. The lobby is immaculate, as
the rest of the property, and we the staff was very helpful and always had a
smile on their faces. They were extremely hospitable.
My husband and I visited Key West in May on our Honeymoon. The Southernmost on
the Beach is a great place for honeymooning couples or anyone wanting a romantic
weekend getaway. I was hesitant after not seeing any real negative reviews. It seemed
too good to be true, but they were deserving of the accolades. Our room was
spacious, with modern comforts and for the price the view was outstanding.
Comfort is a priority and it shows. From a balcony with cozy chairs to the big
pillows on the bed. Sitting on the balcony at any time was just like being in a
different world. When you come to a destination like this a room with an ocean
view is must. We spent a lot of time just sitting out there taking it all in.
All of the rooms are oceanview, but if you can get a balcony room, I can tell
you it's worth the money. I won't mention any names, but if you check around a
little you'll see the other hotels in the area are charging an absolute arm and
leg for similar rooms. If you want ocean view at the best rate on the island
look no further than the Southernmost. Mallory Square is great for the sunset
each evening. It was bit of a long walk from the hotel the evening we found
ourselves relaxing on the beach and decided we wanted to walk down there. It
takes about 15 minutes to walk directly down there. Most day we made our way
down and stopped many times on the way at the bars and shops. They rent bikes
and scooters at the hotel and after a couple of days we decided to skip the
walking and got a couple of bikes. This was great. The island was ours now. The
hotel staff was helpful and eager to please. The beach club restaurant on the
beach in front of the hotel is one of the best priced restaurants on the water
anywhere in the world. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We ate many
meals here and they will bring your food right to you if you want to dine on the
beach, which was definitely a different experience. I saw a review about a nude
hotel and pier next door. It's called Atlantic Shores and we went over to check
it out. They have a great bar and grill there and you can keep your clothes on
if you want. They welcome everyone and you see pretty much everything.
Interesting place to grab a drink and take in the sites! Fun Fun Fun times. The
hotel, the island, the water. All super. Without leaving the country.
