My wife & I stayed at The M&A for a bunch of nights this past summer after doing a whole lot of research on places to stay in Key West. We used to vacation there on college spring break time and were curious at how different the experience would be now that we have graduated college. I read all of the amazing reviews I could find on the Mermaid and the Alligator and was sure that this was going to be the right place for us. The point I am trying to make with writing my review is that it is a place to stay for travelers of all ages. Ironically after you heard that sentence, we were the youngest guests staying in the house, but it was not at all a problem, in fact it was one of the best trips that we as a married couple and single have ever had. If you are looking for peace and quiet,  coziness and splendor to enjoy the person or persons that you are traveling with, then this is the place to be. We stayed in one of the most romantic and special rooms ever. A memory I will cherish for the rest of my life starts with that huge balcony  that overlooked the lovely front of the house with my wife, and being in a complete state of love and admiration of our life at that very moment. That had to be the most romantic moment, save for our wedding day that I have ever had. I owe that moment to this great guesthouse!

My husband and I spent a week at the Mermaid and Alligator in Key West Florida, in the Key Lime Room. Every little nook and cranny was perfect. The spacious tropical grounds, delicious and assorted variety breakfasts and the friendly dowsing of wine gatherings were a marvelous way to meet the other people who were staying at the bed and breakfast. National hotel chains are a comfort zone for most people, however, it does not matter how four star and glamorous  they may be, this accommodation will surely beet them into pulp! That's the main reason we like this bed and breakfast the best. We did not feel like we gave up quality or amenities, we felt like we gained a healthy dose of both! The Mermaid and Alligator really stands out strong among the best of the best at which we have stayed. The accommodations are elegant yet relaxed. Highly recommended. Can't wait to return back again!

We took a vacation to Key West in late April. We stayed at the most delightful place, the Mermaid and the Alligator. This guesthouse was amazingly fantastic! We had the sumptuous sun room and it is exactly as the picture showed it to be on the website, perfect! The M&A was never far from anything we wanted to do on Duval and still far enough away to have great deal of peace and a relaxed atmosphere. The staff of the guesthouse was magnificent, especially the owner Dean, whom cordially took great care of us. I recommend this Inn for everyone staying in fabulous Key West, particularly for vacationing couples. It is a romantic get away place!

The Mermaid and the Alligator is by definition the quintessential Key West Inn. The owners of the Inn manage to think of every detail and never leave one outstanding, to make your stay the perfect time without being intrusive.  The toasty hot breakfast in the garden every morning, comes with fresh fruit, yogurt, assortment of muffins, and a hot entree. They offer beach towels, a lunch cooler to bring with you to the beach, and free internet connection for those of us who require email s a blood line. The main house of the inn is amazing. The local art surrounds your senses, and the interior rooms are stunning. We reserved the Key Lime room for five nights. It was special and cozy,  perfectly suited for the two of us. It was quiet and masterfully decorated. The air conditioning was perfect for us. Even though it wasn't very very hot outside, it was still really great to enjoy the cooling, quiet sensation.  The gardens around the place are a great way to relax, and loved the advantage of the hammock in the gardens to read in the afternoons. A fantastic location, great service, and atmosphere. We would DEFINITELY recommend the Mermaid and the Alligator to anyone. Don't worry about your budget when you stay here. The rooms are well worth it! And they are a really  great deal when you consider the breakfast included with the rooms for pricey key west! We decided to stay longer but they were booked, so for the rest of the week we needed to move, and we were sad to leave!
