Speakeasy Inn Key West Reviews
We stayed at the Speakeasy for our honeymoon and had a real great time. We stayed in uniquely situated room above the cigar store which had a it's own private balcony facing both Duval Street and the lush back gardens. The back garden surprised us greatly with a pretty waterfall, a couple of chairs with umbrellas which provided shade and is beautiful and tropically landscaped. We never had to fight anyone off back there and so it felt like our own island oasis. The guest room was very bright and superiorly clean with a large shower. The useful mini kitchen came in more handy than we expected it would. Duval Street hustled with excitement and we took full advantage of our balcony. But even with all of the special folks that graced the streets at night this is definitely the quieter end of Duval. Since we had the air conditioner on, no matter how noisy it got outside we never heard a thing. The marvelous location of the Speakeasy Inn is just a few blocks from the Southernmost Point, and refreshing fun-filled walk from Mallory Square. We stayed at the Marquesa Hotel on other vacations and the Galleon Resort when we wanted a condo with a kitchen and more amenities. The staff in the front desk as well as around the property were great, offering us bikes to rent at discounted prices and telling us the ins and outs if the island. We were given great choices for daily activities like the Sunny Days boat tour, Dolphin Watch, and kayaking, The Speakeasy doesn't have a pool of their own but it wasn't something we had to have anyway. The beach is just steps away and down the street you could go to Atlantic Shores, enjoy some cocktails and their huge pool for the day. The kitchenette came in tops for breakfast or snacks. Some days we tried out Key West's amazing food choices at reasonable prices for our breakfast. We will be back as soon as possible, this place was fantastic!
My wife and I
just returned from a eight night stay at the spectacular Speakeasy Inn. This was
a nice place to stay in Key West at a great rate. We reserved the loft above
the adjoined property, which came with a private balcony on the rear side
of our room. The room was more than nice with it's full size bed, relatively
comfy pull out couch, television, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, air
conditioning, large master bath with nice ceramic tile. We paid less than
seventy-six dollars a night because it was during the off season. This was our
third vacation in Key West and Tom, the owner, was very intelligent, soft
spoken, and very helpful at explaining the inner workings of the Island. He so
great he gave us his cell phone number just in case we had any remaining
questions. The Hotel Key West is
nearby and has a pool if you want that amenity for a similar price. If you want
to go really cheap, then El Rancho Motel is
also right around the corner, but the quality is not to par with the Speakeasy
Inn. I would recommend this great accommodation to even the most difficult
to please, and we would definitely come back to stay at the Speakeasy.
This had to be
a shoddy place to stay. That is what was going threw my mind when I reserved
here, because I had gotten such a great rate on room right on Duval
Street. Boy was I wrong! The room was immaculately clean, and the one I was
lucky to get was HUGE, I was told it was the biggest one available. We were
graced with our own private yard in the back that we took complete tranquility
in relaxing in. The location on Duval and at the end of Duval that it is at was
top notch. We felt pretty good at the end of the night, so it was a treat
to comfortably walk home in safety. It was a little bit of a distance from the
bar district, but not to bad of a stumbling distance away. This end of the
island offered us a fantastic selection of shops and specialty food places.
Particularly the homemade Ice cream parlor that is about a block away from the
Speakeasy. We visited them every night and sometimes in the middle of the day.
The quality of this place made our vacation so much better. Great place to visit
and stay.
