Southernmost On The Beach Key West Reviews

I stayed at the Southernmost on the Beach in Key West for six nights recently. I've been to Key West a few years ago, and stayed on the other side of the island. While the last hotel I stayed in was very nice (and expensive), the Southernmost is so much better in every way. Welcoming staff, scenic ocean views, nice white sand beach for swimming and laying out, and great restaurants all around it. As far as the quality that you get, considering the price they charge, and comparing to the other oceanfront and beachfront hotels in Key West. The southernmost on the beach is your best bet.

The Southernmost on the Beach is owned and managed by the same company that owns and manages several hotels at the quieter end of Duvall Street in Key West. I've stayed in a couple of their properties because I just prefer to be on this side of the island and have come to find their accommodations better than the others around them. The southernmost was no exception to this rule and to me really stood high above the rest. I stayed for 6 nights here during my latest vacation and this is the first time I've ever felt compelled to write a review. After doing my research here on SeeARoomKeywest.com, and reading the reviews and watching the virtual tours, I felt confident I had chosen a winner. When I arrived I was not at all disappointed. I absolutely love this hotel, and think it's tops in Key West. First of all, the room I reserved was a second floor ocean view room, and for the price you just can't beat it. Of coarse it was very clean and decorated with a modern tropical theme. I like to soak in a bath tub after walking all around the island all day, and I forgot to ask if it had a shower or tub. It had a shower, but the bathroom and the shower both we're renovated and well kept. This was my fault though for not asking. Having the phone number provided to call the hotel directly was comforting. The woman working the front desk that checked me in was soft spoken and really kind. She had the answers to all of my touristy questions she probably gets five times a day. She always answered with a smile and was extremely helpful with recommends for local restaurants and activities. The pool was huge for the amount of rooms they have. There was never a crowding issue and it had fountains going into it from lion heads. It was like a Roman Greek style pool area. At night they kept it lit up and it was beautiful. I slept well every night, noise was never an issue at all, and the view from the room was an ocean view as shown. You can see this hotel is gorgeous from the photos on the site. I plan to return.

Southernmost On the Beach is located at the quiet end of Duvall Street. If you only want to stagger a short distance from the packed end of the island then you may wan to look else ware. This would be the only reason not to stay though. We walked up and down Duval several times every day and found it nice to be away from the pounding thumping music on the other end. If you want both the quiet and convenience of not walking down Duval call a cab. The taxi cabs in Key West are very quick to come when you call. It's a small island so if you stand on just about any street corner for a few minutes you'll see a cabbie go by no matter what time it is. The walk to the other end of Duval doesn't seem far if you're shopping and stopping into the different bars along the way down. We did both daily. There's a convenience store and several fantastic restaurants all around the hotel. Scooter rentals, excursion tickets, and everything you need is right there. Overall I find the southernmost to be a wonderful hotel, in the best local. I'd stay there again and likely will.

My wife and I just returned from a short vacation to Key West. This was our first time visiting the island, and I am tickled that we found the Southernmost on the Beach. There were only a few reviews here but more virtual tours and photos then anywhere else so I thought I'd come back and say thanks. The location is simply the best in Key West. You're close to the main part of town, right on the best beach, and compared to hotels all around it, the southernmost is a deal. It was really fantastic. There's Cuban Deli / grocery store across the street, which is convenient for picking up some supplies for your room. We had a mini bar set up rather quickly. The rooms have refrigerators which is an essential part of the mini bar experience. We also made a few sandwiches to snack on by the pool and while sunning at the beach. There's also a long pier going out into the ocean covered with beautiful people soaking in the sun. At least when I was there. I am lucky. The hospitality of the staff is first rate and I am an authority. I've been in the hotel industry for 27 years now. I love these new site where you can go put in your two cents about a place. I think it keeps them on their toes. Service has improved dramatically since the power of the internet was introduced. The amenities and toiletries are generous. They even had shower gel. Rooms have coffee makers and they even have coffee service by the pool. I guess that's in case the pool doesn't wake you up enough after enjoying the town the night before. If you decide to stay here, you won't be sorry. Take it from a certified hotel snob.

We had never been to Key West before so we read all the reviews and watched all the videos here on See A Room before deciding that Southernmost on the Beach was what we wanted. What we wanted was a place to relax by a pool and get some sun yet get in the shade to nap, an ocean view balcony to read romance novels and magazines, with a proper view of the ocean, not a view down the street though the trees, and finally something that was family friendly. There are a few "riskay" places to stay in Key West. We didn't need to be stumbling distance from the bars either. The kids are over that by now. Seriously though if you're looking for the same thing we were, you can stop searching. We got everything we were looking for and so much more. The ocean view from our balcony and room was breathtaking. The pictures here look great but truly don't come close to being there and smelling the ocean breeze and just erasing work and your boss from your mind. The pool had plenty of chairs to sun in and was super clean. The kids sat under the fountains going into the pool for hours just letting the water hit their head. The were memorized by it when they weren't playing in it. I need a fountain like that for home. The other guests we spoke to were very happy. Because this is ocean front property there were a lot of couples there. They are family friendly but we only saw one other family staying there. They were probably just the smart ones who left the kids at home. We would like to go back just the two of us. This is a very romantic setting too. The staff was very friendly and were prompt with anything we requested. Courteous professionals run the southernmost. All of the furnishings in the room looked brand new. Our bathroom was spotlessly clean with quality fixtures and a solid granite countertop. The grounds were tropical with exotic flowers and plants and well manicured. That's the best review I can give. No complaints for us, we'll be back. Hopefully alone next time so we can enjoy the ambiance the southernmost offers.
