La Mer and Dewey House Key West Guest Reviews

This just happened to be our first time in Key West and we had a wonderful time. We stayed at the Dewey House next to the La Mer. We were torn as to which one we wanted to stay at more. In the end we let availability make the decision for me, it was perfect and incredibly romantic. We had one of their ocean front rooms in the back. The room  was very comfortable because it came with a balcony overlooking the ocean for our very own to enjoy. The location of the room as well as the entire property is quiet, right on a sandy clean beach, which we found never to be crowded, not to mention it was only steps away from Duvall St. We were told by friends that had come to Key West in the past that we should try to stay as close to Duval St as possible but at the quieter end. We obviously chose very wisely. We even had a nicer place to stay than our friends did. They are reserved next year at the Dewey House! The wonderful restaurants that are around that read of Duval were outstanding!  Breakfast was served every morning and was delicious. If you like to stay at accommodations that please the most picky a person then look no farther!

We spent a week in April  at the La Mer and totally loved it!! The sign out front made us laugh at first but after staying there we feel it says it all ... "A Boutique Hotel with Flair!" We adored the breakfast and the afternoon  tea on the veranda located at the next door property the Dewey House. Both of the events were wonderful and relaxing! We could  use of any of the three Southernmost pools and they were great! We loved being at the quiet end of Duval Street, it was peaceful, yet was so easy to reserve a scooter to go to dinner or go out sightseeing, down at the louder parts of Duval Street. This hotel should advertise themselves as a four star accommodation at a reasonable price! We didn't just love the La Mer we cherished it and will definitely go back!!

My son and I just returned from a four day stay at Dewey House and La Mer. The rooms are immaculate and wonderful. Every one of the staff bends over backwards to be sure they make your stay enjoyable. The location is ideal at the end of the quieter side of Duval. We were able to just walk to a lot of great restaurants. The lovely beach is great, especially for  Key West, which most people know is not the place to go if huge sandy large waved beaches are your preference. But the ocean view took our breath away. We would love to stay here again!


My wife and I stayed in one of the garden view rooms at the Le Mer for five nights. The room was gorgeous, we watched the beach from our porch! The property as well as the rooms are immaculate. The nightly turn-down service came complete with chocolates on the pillow, a romantic way to leave a wonderful touch. Being able to use all the amenities at the numerous Southernmost properties was perfect. Their pier is great! They have a couple of pools, one heated, and the other unheated. The breakfasts are spectacular, we recommend getting a waffle, it was the best! They were more delicious than many restaurants. I can't rave enough about how wonderful the staff is. We loved  John, the innkeeper, not only was he so friendly, fun, and helpful but he made you feel like you were staying with friends. When I was in need of a book to read for the day,  John  brought a book from home and offered it to me, he even let me keep it. This place was worth the  money. We would certainly stay with them again in a heartbeat.
