I chose this hotel because of it's great price
and I like dealing directly with the hotel. I not only
received a great rate, but a great hotel. The staff was vary nice and welcoming.
Not to sound weird, but they felt like family. Not the nagging mom or the
nosey sister. More like the cool cousin or the funny uncle you look forward to
seeing on vacation. The staff gave us
great recommendations on places to eat and things to do. They actually asked us
how we enjoined the their recommendations later in the week, which showed they
actually cared.
The hotel is private and quaint. The rooms are clean and affordable. I would recommend this
place to anyone I know. I liked it so much that I extended our stay for
another day. I will
defiantly go back.
There are plenty of reviews of this as a hotel already on this site, but this was our
third trip to tropical Key West and so far, the Lateda
is our favorite hotel. I heard it's named after a Cuban politician from the
1800's. It has
wonderful Key West decor and the bar is a great place to sit and watch people
walk by on Duval Street.
This place has a great atmosphere, nice clean rooms, courteous staff and an excellent
location. The played music in the lounge that was terrific. Light
jazz and music from the 20’s to 40’s. We loved every minute. It was quite refreshing
from the thumping overly loud tunes of the other bars farther up the
street. A free continental breakfast is served, not just put out for the masses, and if you want to spend all
morning drinking free coffee and hanging out, the staff is happy to chat as little or as
much as you like. Free WiFi is available in the bar/breakfast area.
You get the password from the front desk and you’re on-line as fast as your
laptop will go. As
vacationing adults we found the lack of kids at the La Te Da awesome! This also
allows the pool to be open 24 hours. We took a nice romantic dip in the pool
after coming in at 3am. Very nice. They called us a few
days before we left to see when we wanted the A/C turned on in our room -- very
thoughtful. This was an indication of the service we were in for. I've never had
that happen anywhere else, and I've never stayed in a place quite like this
either. I only wish they were all like that.
They don't have any off-street parking, but parking can be found on side
streets near the hotel, so it's not a big deal at all. Noise from the bar wasn't an issue for us,
but any
light sleepers might have a problem with it. It's nothing like the other bars on
Duval. In comparison it's a very quiet bar area. If you need an iron and ironing board,
just call the front desk and housekeeping will bring it right up. There are 3 levels of rooms
(quality);
standard, deluxe, and luxury. The luxury room is absolutely huge with 2 beds, balcony and
some have a Jacuzzi tub for a little more money. The deluxe rooms have a stand
up shower, and a balcony with a view of the pool area. For
some reason a friend who booked at the same time we did, ended up getting a luxury room for the price of a standard,
so I thought. I
was a little annoyed at first to find we were paying more for a deluxe room than he
was for a big luxury room. When I asked the front desk I was politely told
I was wrong. Sure enough, we saw his room and his bill and it was a few bucks
more. When you book your room here, make sure you get
what you want and how much it is. The rooms are not much different in price or
quality. If you want a lot of space you won't find anything better than the
luxury rooms. In the end, my friend was
very happy with his luck. We all were.
I just returned from an awesome stay at the LaTeDa Hotel. I booked the room at
the last
minute and because the rate on power race boat weekend was high, I was told I
could stay my entire vacation if I was willing to change rooms every couple of
nights. Having read
the reviews here of how nice a place it was, I thought it must be worth moving
around a little and booked
the room. Next time I'll book more in advance, and stay in one room. It will not
be in any other hotel. This place is worthy of all the great reviews.
These guys do go out of their way to make you feel welcome and cared for
during your stay. They even moved my luggage and things around so I could get
the same rate every night. I only had to move once and it was totally painless. Both rooms I had were
nice and tropical - lovely furniture, right near the
big open pool. One of the rooms even had a two person Jacuzzi - romance! A
little chocolate, champagne, and.... Breakfast was
free with the room rate and was first class all the way! You actually sit down
in the restaurant and get served. Very different from the rest of the hotels in
Key West.
Be sure and see the cabaret show while you're there - I loved the "Broadway 3 Ways"
show on Friday. Also check out Randy Roberts on Saturday. Both are hysterically funny and
entertaining. Everyone is right, there are not many places like this anywhere in
the world.
As a single woman I felt really safe in the area where LaTeDa was located on
Duval street. Actually all of Key West felt safe, it was just that they were on
the "quiet" end of the very well lit street. No problem walking home from the
bars alone at 4am. Say that about any town lately? Not all
Key West Hotels offer that. You have the bars, restaurant, and cabaret
right there on the property too, which makes it nice and convenient. It's located far enough
down Duval for peace and quiet from the big thumping bar noise other were
talking about, but not so far away
that walking to see the sights is a problem at. Everything is really close by. For
fellow vegetarians - it's an easy walk to the "Cafe" restaurant on Southard Street for great
and reasonable veggie food. They also have other great food for non-veg in your
party. Perfect place to stay in Key West.
The La Te Da Hotel in Key West is a
wonderful place to stay and we had a great vacation. They offer casual and
tropical atmosphere, while maintaining a standard of class. The bars and restaurant are
tops. The breakfast was included with the room and more than we had expected.
Served fresh at a table in the restaurant every morning. Complete and made to
order with pancakes that were fantastic and great for soaking up the alcohol
from the previous nights activities. We didn't have
dinner at the hotel once, only because we spent our evenings out on the town. We
chatted with some folks at the bar who had and they were very happy so it's on
our list of places to eat when we come back. The menu looked appetizing. We
did grab a light lunch and just had a couple of appetizers one mourning we woke
up late in the day, so I guess at that point it's no longer waking up late in
the morning. So we woke up early in the afternoon and were pleased with the
appetizers. We shared shrimp, mahi Caesar salad, and the
oysters Rockefeller. The room was large and luxurious. We enjoyed a dip in the
pool most evenings / early morning which was romantic and refreshing. The bars
are nice to have right there on the property and the bartenders make generous
cocktails. The generosity comes with a price as does anything else in this world. You'll spend some money at the bar,
but they aren't watered down like many bars serve so you can take your time and
enjoy them for what they are. The hotel has the perfect location on Duval. It's close to the southernmost point,
South
beach, and an easy bike ride or walk to Fort Zachary State park, which has a
larger although rocky beach. The La Te Da is on the quiet end of Duval, but
within a short walk to all of the bars and nightlife. I highly suggest you stay
at the La Te Da if you want a great value for a great room. For us it was
also in an ideal location. We won't stay elsewhere when we return.
We recently picked the La Te Da Hotel in Key West for our trip. When we
checked-in, we were upgraded to a Luxury Room that was absolutely huge for a
hotel in Key West. Evidently some folks had liked their room so much they wanted
to stay and so the hotel offered us the upgrade at no charge if we were willing
to take a different room. This was not a difficult decision. Our room rate included breakfast
already, and we did see what the regular and deluxe rooms looked like in person
after seeing them here on See A Room. The brochure matches the property. No
matter what room type you go with here, the rooms are all nice and spacious.
The room we ended up with had a lovely decor, a King size bed with loads of
fluffy pillows, and was high quality all the way. It didn't have a tub, but instead had a shower
room. It was the largest shower I had ever used. I'm use to the regular stall
showers. We could have easily fit 4
people in there it was so huge. Shower party in my room! We were thoroughly
spoiled by the end of the trip. Way to go La Te Da! They live up to their name.
