Grand Key
Resort Key West Reviews
This was my first vacation in a year. My husband along
with our 14 year old son and my mom. We decided on staying at the Doubletree
Grand Key Resort in
Key West instead of staying in oldtown because of the price
for the level of quality and the rooms are larger than the small hotels
and bed and breakfasts in oldtown. We had a large two room suite which really ended up
saving us a ton. The staff at Doubletree provided excellent service and the
cookie at check-in was like coming home to Grandmas house. For a national chain
hotel they really make an effort to make their guests feel at home. Additional
toiletries, towels, pillows and anything we requested was provided for us
expeditiously. Throughout our six night stay at the hotel, the staff was
attentive to our every need. The pool is spectacularly luxurious with a zero
entry on one side, which is like a ramp into the water to mimic walking into the
water at the beach. It's long and wide so laying there half in the water half
out was ultra relaxing. Speaking of the beach, the Grand Key is near the largest
beach on the island (Smathers) which has an extra wide side walk that leads all
the way back to the hotel. We walked down to the beach the first day, which was
about a half mile and took about 20 minutes. Between the hotel and the beach is
almost entirely ocean so the view is beautiful if you like scenery wile you
walk. We drove down the other days. That was all the driving we did however
because the Grand Key has a shuttle that takes you to oldtown every hour. This
was convenient and we were able to enjoy a few cocktails without concern for the
drive back to the hotel. A car isn't necessary if you fly in. If you get in a
hurry to go downtown and call a cab it will cost you about $15 each way, so
utilizing the free shuttle is worth a small wait. They drop you off at the Conch
Republic Seafood Company which is a great restaurant. The Doubletree Grand Key
Resort is the best priced resort/luxury accommodations in Key West. We were very
pleased with everything.
For a resort
in Key West, we felt the Doubletree Grand Key Resort was an exceptional value.
The property itself was in excellent condition from the exterior to the rooms
and pool area. The staff was polite and friendly. The pool and hot tub area was
extremely luxurious and tropical, as was the food and drinks from the bar. We
watched the video and enjoyed cocktails and massages by the pool as well. Rooms
come with a mini-fridge and mini-bar, which is great for soda or beer. We
brought along a couple of our favorites and picked up some soda so we had a full
bar ourselves. A free copy USA Today is waiting for you each morning and the
restaurant has great food all day. Overall we loved our vacation and this very
well run resort is in our opinion the best deal for high quality lodging at very reasonable
rates. Especially in Key West.
