The Doubletree Grand Key Resort in Key West is highly recommendable based on it's value compared to other resorts in Key West. We stayed here for nine days last March and I came here looking for reservations to go back. Outstanding service from the entire staff as well as fantastic rooms. Shuttles provide transportation to and from oldtown every hour free of charge which is an amenity not found with other hotels. You won't need to rent a car unless you plan on driving up the keys, which we did and turned around to head back after thirty minutes. If you have a convertible, great weather and enjoy the caribbean waters around you as you go over the bridges I have to say it's quite a drive. The islands of the Keys north of Key West however are mainly residential. I read a review about the lack of complaints and a few invalid ones. I couldn't agree more. I don't understand complaints about free shuttles running every hour and silly things. If you're in that much of a hurry on vacation I feel sorry for you. The pool is as nice as they say and despite the virtual tours looking great, they come nowhere near being there in person. It's slice of heaven on earth.

I stayed at the Doubletree with my husband and six year old son for five nights in June. We found the resort hotel to be wonderful and have nothing but praise for it. The room was beautiful and the beds were flat and in new condition. They were comfortable and conforming to your body once you laid down on them. We slept very well. We found the room and bathroom to be immaculately cleaned by maid service daily. The level of service from beginning to end never faltered. The mini bar was ample and well priced compared to the other hotels we've been gouged by in the past. The buffet breakfast in the restaurant off of the lobby was also reasonably priced for the quality of the food. I love fresh biscuits and gravy in the morning and they had biscuits that would melt in you mouth without the gravy at all, which was....gravy! The pool and hot tub were surrounded by palm trees and bungalows. There was also a small man made beach near the pool that my son just loved. This was something I'd never seen anywhere else and other resorts should take notice. The expense for the accommodation compared the enjoyment of the guests would make it a must have for any family oriented resort hotel. I was jealous of the poolside massage on the video and dreamt about that for weeks prior to leaving. I had one the day we arrived and one the last day we were there. A must do. The poolside bar and was also reasonably priced and they had food from the restaurant inside available as well. The Doubletree gets an A from us and we'll be staying there when we visit Key West.
