When you are visiting Key West, Florida and want to sample some delicious French food, there is only one place to go, Bagatelle Restaurant on Duval Street. The building that houses this restaurant was built in 1994 by a sea captain. He had porches built on the home. He looked forward to spending time with his family and friends on those porches when he returned home from the sea. The current restaurant has kept those porches and hopefully they will welcome you and your friends.

On a recent trip to Key West with some of my best friends, we over heard people talking about Bagatelle. Since they raved about the atmosphere and the food, I asked them a little more about the place. They said they didn't want to brag too much about it too much but in a word, fabulous. That made the 6 of us girls curious enough to take a look at the place.

Once we saw how charming the outside was, we had to go inside. It was so charming and welcoming we all agreed we should get a table. We were a little early for dinner which worked out great, because we got a table before the dinner crowd arrived.

The wait staff was friendly and very helpful. Our server, Wendy, went above and beyond helpful. She answered all our questions and helped us pick out dishes that left us wanting more. We started with 3 servings of peel and eat shrimp, which we shared. Gail had the seafood chowder which we all tasted and it was excellent. We decided to skip salads and jump right into the entrees.

The entrees all sounded so good we had a hard time deciding. It turned out we all ordered something different so that we could to a tasting of each other’s dishes. Wendy even brought us a bunch of small plates to make it easier for us to share. The pan seared salmon and the Florida lobster tail turned out to be the overall two dishes that everyone said they would order again the next time.

After such a fun and filling dinner none of us was hungry for dessert, but we did order coffee just so we could sit and relax for a while. We were leaving for home the next day, so this dinner was the perfect ending to a perfect week in Key West
